Keen to get on with it these riders can't wait for the train to come past. Nowadays riders would be disqualified for such action but back then it was all they could do to get ahead. What I really like about the picture is the simplicity of the bikes. No bottles cages, no loud graphics trying to grab your attention. Also the riders look like they could all fall back as boxers if they don't come right as cyclists, makes me wonder what the boxers must have looked like.
