Change was in the air in the 1930 version of the Tour. The publicity caravan was introduced and more importantly the team format was changed to represent countries. A change that would swing the race in favor of the French. Amazingly Charles Pélissier would win eight stages and André Leducq would win the malliot jeune
Leduqc would need to over come a fall on the Galibier where he lost fifteen minutes. his bike broken and him at the way side head bowed. He would fight on though and after replacing his bike would reduce the deficit and remain in yellow.
